Hi Friends! Thanks for joining me on our weekly coffee date! I am linking up with Rags to Stitches, like usual, for our little chat. :)
If we were meeting for coffee today...
...first of all, I would be drinking out of the biggest coffee cup available. I have been OD-ing on coffee this week, actually, and there were a couple of days I can think of that I don't think I even drank anything else. So maybe, I would be drinking water instead of coffee to rehydrate myself. Nope. No, I'm sticking with coffee for now.
...I would tell you that today is my brother's 30th BIRTHDAY!!! Happy Birthday, Ramsey!!! It is so hard for me to believe that my brother is 30, mainly because I have always felt like I am so much older than him (we are only 18 months apart), and now it's like he's caught up with me! He is a fantastic brother, and a wonderful friend, and I am so, so proud of him. So Happy, Happy Birthday, brother!!
I couldn't resist. Happy Birthday, Rams! :)
...I would tell you about the launch of my Goat & Lulu monthly newsletter! I received a lot of wonderful feedback from family, friends, and customers when my first newsletter launched on Monday! Didn't get one in your inbox?? No worries! Comment with your email address, or send me an email and I'll add you to the list! ...I would show you the sneak peek from our family holiday photo session with Caroline Gorman of Captures by Caroline Photography! Caroline has been taking our family picture each November for the past three years now, and she never disappoints. I actually told her this year that I was not going for a perfectly posed, smiling-for-the-camera kind of picture. I wanted her to catch us talking, laughing, looking, and being real. Because honestly, with our three kiddos, getting a perfectly posed picture is next to impossible, and is quite exhausting. And I hate getting frustrated during photo sessions, but when one wants to swing and not take pictures, one doesn't want to sit still, and one is hiding behind Daddy, and you only have a half an hour to get it done, it never fails that I get worked up, impatient, and then no one has fun. So I wanted all pressure off this year, and yes, we smiled for plenty of photos, but I wanted Caroline to snap whatever she could while we were just interacting as well. I think those are going to be my favorites. And this one is so great. It just shows us. Scott cuddling with his girls, and me engaged with my curious boy.
Much more "us" anyway. :)
...I would show you our Thankful Leaf Garland thus far. I let Brantley and Grayson tell me one thing they are thankful for each day, and I write it on a paper leaf and clothes-pin it to our twine we strung up on the fireplace (see lots more ideas for thankful activities with your kids here!). So far they are thankful for: Bammy and PaDaddy, Uncle Ramsey and Aunt Beth and Sally Kate, Orange Juice (nice), Monkey, Our House, Bennett, and Mommy. Hoping to rep the Luton side of the family next week. :)
...I would tell you about the delicious oysters we grilled last weekend! I like mine raw, but Scott likes his just barely steamed. So he throws them over indirect heat on our charcoal grill, and he practically takes mine right off, but steams his in the shells for just a minute. Then a little cocktail sauce with a lot of horseradish on a saltine, and we're good to go. Scott picked up a dozen for the both of us, and I could have easily eaten 2 dozen myself. Hoping to have Oyster Sunday Part 2 this weekend!
...I would tell you that though everyone says this, and though it's so cliche, I just cannot believe that we are well into November!! They say that the days are long but the years are short when you are a mama, and that's totally how I feel right now. We are BUSY and there are just not enough hours in the day most days. But we are getting into such a special and wonderful part of our year, especially with kids. And whether or not we get all the crafts, activities, and experiences done that I want to do, I am determined to carve out some special quality time with my kids this month and next month. What do you do to not get overwhelmed by this time of year? And how do you ensure that memories are being made with your children and your family??
...I would ask you what you are up to this weekend? Have you started your Christmas shopping (which reminds me, I need to get on that)? I will be sewing, sewing and sewing some more, cranking out G&L orders. I am so happy to know that so many families will be waking up in Goat & Lulu pajamas on Christmas morning! Sounds silly, but it really makes me feel like I am playing a (very) small part in their family tradition. :) And PS, they're still available for Christmas delivery through mid-December! Check them out here!
So, I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you back on Monday! XOXO!
