Coffee Date Friday

Hi Friends!  Thank you so much for joining me for our weekly coffee date.  I'm linking up with Rags to Stitches, as usual, for some end of the week "cawfee-tawk."  SNL?  Anyone?  :)  If we were meeting for coffee this morning...

Bammy and Gracie, who hardly let mom put her down the whole time she was here!

....I would tell you that my mom was here this week, and it's is always so great when Bammy comes to visit.  The kids adore her, and I pretty much don't exist when she's around, so I get a bit of a break!  Not only does she help with the kids, but the cooking and the cleaning, she encourages Scott and I to go out by ourselves, then after the kids go to bed, she helps me with laundry, or, as was this past visit, she cuts fabric for me while I sew!  I know she must leave exhausted because she never lets up when she's here, and it is always the biggest help in the world.  Scott loves when she comes because he reaps the benefits of her awesome cooking, and I just love spending time with my mom.  Other than Scott, she is my best friend, and I hope I can be half the mom to my kids as she is to me.

Goat & Lulu Christmas Pajamas- find them here!

...I would tell you that judging from my etsy sales this past week, people are ready for Christmas!  And I am pretty impressed...people are really thinking ahead!  I have sold bunches of Christmas pajamas, dresses and shirts already, and I am so anxious to get all the fun, festive fabrics in to start whipping up some holiday pretties!

...I would tell you about my brother's surprise 30th birthday party last weekend!  I couldn't talk about it last week, obviously, since it was a surprise, but it was so much fun!  He and my sister in law had gone out to dinner, and when they got back we were all in their living room, ready to surprise him!  It was a great turnout, and even my aunt and uncle from North Carolina drove down to celebrate, and a friend of his from high school flew in from Denver to spend the weekend with him!  His official birthday isn't until November 8th, but it was a fun, early party to welcome him into his thirties!

...I would ask you what your kids are going to be for Halloween??  Because we have yet to decide on costumes for Brantley, Grayson, and Ben!  I know we're cutting it really, really close, and I have GOT to make a decision this weekend.  I don't want to spend much money, and DIY-ing it would be fine, but I have been driving myself absolutely crazy searching all over the internet for cute ideas.  My brain is officially fried on all things Halloween, so Sunday is my self-set deadline to figure something out.

...I would tell you that since we are smack dab in the peak of oyster season, I am DYING to have an oyster roast!  I would invite you and your family to come over this weekend and crack into a few bushels.  Scott has a great method for steaming them on the grill, but I really like them best raw with some horseradish-heavy cocktail sauce and a squeeze of lemon.  Who wants to come over for a beer (or a dozen) and slurp down some oysters?  Don't like them?  No problem, we'll just have a crock pot full of chili with all the fixins too. :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, whether you're chilling at home, heading to a fun fall festival, or chowing on some oysters.  See you on Monday!

  1. I would tell you...that yes! I agree--grandparents definitely make our kiddos' worlds go 'round. We are lucky mommas to both have two sets of amazing grandparents in our lives! That it sounds like Ramsey's party was a blast! That I cannot believe the holidays are right around the corner...crazy. That I am now craving some yummy oysters. Come on May 2014!! That I hope y'all have a GREAT weekend!
