Midkiff Edisto 2013

We just got back from our second family vacation of the summer to Edisto Beach, this time with my parents, my brother and sister in law, and my 5 month old niece.  And what a great trip we had!

Brantley stayed in the ocean for about the entire 7 days straight.  Jumping in the waves, lying in the surf, digging holes, yelling, screaming, laughing, she loved it.  By the end of the week, Grayson got over her fear of the water, and Ben did too.  Watching the three of them play in the water together on the last day with Scott and I was one of my most favorite parts of trip.

Ben was a great beach baby!  He took full advantage of beach naps, chewed on lots of sticks, and ate plenty of sand.  He was also a little fussier than normal, but found out on Friday that his top front tooth had busted through his gum!

We had one yucky, rainy, inside day, but the Fourth of July couldn't have been more beautiful!!  We had flags a-flying (thanks mainly to Brantley and Grayson and their parade, or "ha-rade," as Brantley says :)), and even got a fly over by several antique military planes.  It was so cool!  Let me just say, that the Fourth of July is SO much fun at the beach. :)  We had sparklers for the kids, but they didn't even make it to dark, they were so exhausted!

And of course, we had tons of awesome family time.  I might as well have been invisible to my girls who adore their Bammy, and Ben got to spend a little time side by side with Sally Kate in their go-pods on the beach.  And the drinks and food... the food.  I will actually be featuring a lot of recipes for the food we made on the trip in the next few weeks.  It was fun to cook alongside my brother, sister in law, and mom too, since we all love cooking so much.  Lots of memories were made, and being at the beach is great, but being at the beach with some of your very favorite people who also happen to be your family, well, that's pretty awesome.

Can't wait for next year!
