Steamed Asparagus with Garlic Sesame Aioli

I was browsing through the produce section the other day, right before lunchtime.  I saw these bright green, beautiful asparagus, and they reminded me of this super easy but delicious dish that a friend of mine used to make for our girls get togethers.  If I stood at the bar where these were sitting, I could easily eat the entire plate!
Steamed Asparagus with Garlic Sesame Aioli is a simple appetizer, or in my case lunch the other day!  By steaming the asparagus it stays firm and crisp, and the garlic sesame aioli is a fun dip that adds a slightly Asian flavor to the dish.
Here's What You Need!
1 bunch of asparagus, trimmed, washed and patted dry
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 minced garlic clove
sea salt
And Here's How You Make It:
Bring about an inch and a half's worth of water to boil in a saucepan.  Put a steamer insert on top, and place asparagus in the steamer.  Cover.  Fill a bog bowl with ice and water.  Only let the asparagus steam for a minute or so, just enough to bring out the bright green in the asparagus and cook through.  You still want it to be crisp, not limp.  Take the asparagus out of the steamer and plunge immediately into the ice bath.  This will stop the cooking immediately and retain the crispness and bright green color.  Pat dry with a paper towel and place in a plate.
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil and garlic.  Sprinkle the sea salt over the asparagus and serve!  Delicious appetizer, snack or lunch!
