Spring Style Week: 5 Spring Trends to Try

Welcome to the last day of Spring Style Week at Goat & Lulu!  I hope you have enjoyed the outfit ideas, style inspiration and I hope you have gotten some good ideas for some new, cute pieces for spring!

If you have missed the posts, here are the links to the posts for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

So for today, since I usually do a Five on Friday post, I thought I would highlight 5 key trends for spring!  These are 5 trends, that if you are going to buy anything for spring, you ought to at least try these.

1. Colored Denim Skinny Jeans

If you read my post here, you'll remember me writing that sometimes people think that colored denim can be intimidating and that you can't wear it because you're too old, or not the right size, or it's too bright, etc. etc. etc.  Well, excuse me for saying, but you're wrong! :)  There are SO many options from so many different stores now.  You can stick with a classic color like red, or try a straight leg jean instead of a "skinny" jean.  And try mint or turquoise, or even gray if you're not quite ready for neon yellow on your legs!  No matter what you choose, colored denim is hot and very, very wearable.  And lots of fun!

2. Chambray Button Up

The chambray shirt is the new white t shirt.  I feel like you can wear this with just about anything!  Wear it with regular jeans, skinny jeans, colored jeans, tucked into a circle skirt, unbuttoned with a tank and maxi skirt,  unbuttoned and tied at the waist with a dress, with shorts.  There are just so many options.  I have even seen it worn with a sequinned skirt and look fabulous!  It can be worn in a very classic way or a very modern and playful way, which makes it one of the most versatile pieces in your closet.

3. Statement Necklace

The statement necklace can literally take a t shirt and jeans to a complex and intereting outfit.  You can pick up one just about anywhere now, ranging from $6-150 and more.  All you need is color and detail, and you've got it!  The ever-popular J.Crew bauble necklace is still going strong, and there are lots of new options out there too.  Wear it long over a button up.  With a dress.  With a striped t shirt and colored skinnes.  A statement necklace automatically elevates your outfit's interest level and adds lots of personality!

4. Black and White

This ought to be an easy one, and a very wearable one.  Black and White is a very strong look, can be created with any budget, and creates a very graphic look for spring.  It defintely breaks up the monotony of all the color of springtime, and adds a little sophistication.

5. Lace Dress

Lace is a huge trend, and one of the easiest and impactful ways to wear it is in a dress!  It's romantic and classic, and isn't just white.  There are lace dresses every color of the rainbow this season, including this mint number, above.  To stay safe, grab a white shift or peasant style.  But if you wnt to make the most of this season, try a bright color, or pastel!

Thank you SO much for joining me this week for Spring Style Week!  Like I've already said, I hope you at least got some outfit ideas, or inspiration.  This season is full of bright colors, easy silhouettes and very wearable pieces.

Have a great weekend, and Happy Easter!  See you Monday!
